I regularly read these threads and at times they are remotely entertaining. I say at times, but this is a very rare thing. Too often, this board goes for weeks with only thread of people throwing insults back and fourth.
Here is a question for you.
HOW MANY OF YOU ACTUALLY LIKE EACH OTHER?
Honestly...It seems that very few of you actually do. Why even bother if you dont care for each other....
Next Subject........
RANDY....
props to you for doing this ANNISTON FEST...but I have to ask the question....WHY BOTHER?......So many times you have given your all to this little group of kids and so many times it has ended with a knife to the back...
Randy works his butt off doing shows......Everyone turns against him....They accuse him of taking money...They dont come out to the shows...They complain about what bands you book.....They complain about how frequent the shows are....They complain about how infrequent the shows are.........
Tyler
Props to you for doing HUG...but havent the people already screwed you once before?......Screw you once, shame on them....Screw you twice....shame on you.....
Tyler works his but off doing shows....Everyone turns against him....People complain about the bands he books....People dont come out to the shows.....They complain about how frequent the shows are....They complain about how infrequent the shows are.....
Jon K......
You were at least smart enough to learn your lesson...
Jon K put his business on the line in order to help maintain something for you ungreatful kids to do...What did you do?....Talked smack....didnt support his shows...
Brandon Taylor is the only one who has been involved in booking shows that noone complains about...and I suspect that is only because very few people actually knew that he had his hands in the Clubhouse shows...
Next Subject....
Any time anyone does a band in this town, people spend so much time trying to shoot them to the ground....So F'ing what if you dont like their music....THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING.....THEY ARE PLAYING MUSIC.....it is how you learn......
Black Ink......... they play Grindcore......get over it people...support them.....So what if Zac talks smack............(why pick on Nathan....he never bothers anyone).....they just want to rock out.....Every band that you have heard starts somewhere....
Divine Blackened Path.... yup...its deathmetal....so freakin what?....you dont like it?....so freakin what?....They are doing what they love....I say keep rockin....Every local scene needs diversity....
Sever... Yes...it is mall metal....do I like it?...no...does that matter?....NO....They were playing what they love...Lay off people.
These bands play music despite what many of you say...They are the reason why there is still music in this town......Believe me....those of you who show up, dont buy merchendice....weasel your way out of paying to get in...and complain all the time do nothing to help anything....
On the same note, ZAC and the guys from SEVER or whatever band your in now....You really have a lot to learn about promotion of your band....NOONE....and i mean NO ONE wants to hear someone be so arogant about their band...This is where you all went wrong.....The most promotion you should be doing is putting up flyers.....beyond that....let the music speak for itself and people will form their own opinions......If not, they will form their opinions of your band by how much of an ASS you make of yourself....What difference does it make what you think of your own band...of course you think it is good...why else would you be playing it?.....
BACK TO RANDY...TYLER...JON....and whoever else wants to book shows....
My suggestion is to not waist your time...I have met some great people around the "music scene" here and have really enjoyed playing for most of you.....Unfortunatly......I DONT THINK THE MAJORITY OF YOU DESERVE THE LITTLE YOU HAVE IN THIS TOWN...(dont go writing me ugly responses because you know who you are and you know that I am right)....
Randy, you have worked very hard....You have a good thing going for you now so I suggest staying in B'ham and working on that...Your work here was done a long time ago and, sadly, very few appreciated it.
Tyler, move on man....it is just going to happen again...These kids have no loyalty...You have another mark on your criminal record, and what for?...learn your lessons well my friend....
Black Ink and Sever Guys....keep playing the music that you want to play....weather you are good or not doesnt matter....time will fix that anyway....Just learn a bit of tact in promoting yourselves(ZAC)....
To those who have nothing better to do than make everyone feel horrible on here and those who contribute to the constant degredation of what little scene there is here........
in the words of Brandon Taylor....
SUCK MY BALLS...

i think everyone involved in a band around here should drop music for a while and just get together and fight each other, all at the same time. of course it wouldnt solve anything but it would be entertaining at least.

I never thought anyone turned their back on me... Sure there were always the ones who tried to get out of paying, but that's not the point. The reason HeflinUnderground worked is because It wasn't a business... I did it because I had no life, no where to go, and a love underground music/shows. The reason HeflinUnderground didn't work is because it was in Heflin... and yes, I tried to book too big of shows for too small of a town.
See there's one thing different about me than all of who you listed. You guys forget where you came from, you get angry/bitter at the underground, and then you give up on all of us... and eventually bash people for bashing people....
I will never give up on the underground scene...
Maybe I should do "Oxford (All Ages)"... you may be right or you may be wrong about me.

I think tyler has a good plan, if it doesnt work at least he didnt put too much into it, I remember me and my friends helped make the underground cause we wanted tyler to know he wasnt alone, and I am greatful for randy for doing these shows, I just wish it could go back to 1213 days where I hardly heard any bullshit. I agree with noah about music, you have to keep it going and take any bad feed back you get, it happens, you just have to be the better man. Ive been insulted many times on this board and actually was onced told to go die, for what? Im friends with everyone weather your my friend or not, i have no grudges, im greatful we have a scene, whats left of it...

Im friends with everyone weather your my friend or not, i have no grudges, im greatful we have a scene, whats left of it... Bad feedback is one thing but what goes on here is rediculous. Bad feedback would be along the lines of "i dont care for their music" or "they really played a weak set last night." What we have here is mean spirited personal attacks which are made for no other reason than to personally hurt individual members of the bands. So I think you either got my post wrong or didnt read the entire thing. Stop with the bullspit people. Enjoy what you have. If you dont care for anyone involved and feel like you can do nothing but talk smack about it, go find another group of people/ type of activity to enjoy. These bands shouldnt be having to endure the type of things that are going on around here...They dont deserve it and most of you dont deserve them. There are precious few of us who have the experience being in bands and playing music for enough years to even offer any kind of critique to any of the younger players in the area....but guess what....we dont....why?...because we have all been there. Everyone starts out in younger bands and most arent that great. They are where you hone your skill....But that will never happen if people continue to discourage all of the younger players....

I will never give up on the underground scene... Maybe I should do "Oxford (All Ages)"... you may be right or you may be wrong about me. First of all Tyler, I know that I can look back to this past Summer's threads and find plenty where you realized that people had "turned their backs on you." If you truely dont believe that they did, look back very deeply at what happened over the summer. Look back at the shows that you put your but on the line for. Look back at all of the people who, even though they knew what kind of money was on the line, didnt show up...many of which were very open about how they were doing this out of spite. Now, lets get to your comment about "heflin undergound worked because..." It is difficult for me to see the HUG as being any kind of a success. First of all, you frequently lost money far beyond what most "promoters" starting out ever loose. Second of all, it all ended with you being taken away in handcuffs because you didnt go through the proper channels to pull off what you were trying to do...Third, you got in wayyyyy over your head...You embarassed your club, the people of Anniston.......(dont think so?....give Joe King and email and ask him what he said to people about the show....ask him about a conversation with one Ben Weasel.....I know it might not seem that important, but word of mouth is the only thing that realy makes or breaks a small indi venue. Now, lets deal with the comment about "forgetting where they came from." The trouble is that you and all of the other kids around here have any clue "where they came from" or me for that matter...What is going on here in this area now didnt exist wayyy back in the day....We showed up for hundereds of crappy bands that we hated. We didnt have to have "venue's." We made due with what we had because we realized that we didnt have a large enough crowd to support a full time place...We didnt talk smack about each other because we were all friends. This is how we networked, got shows, got places to sleep out of town, got meals...What goes on now is an abomination and has about as much to do with the "undergound/indi/DIY" spirit as Celine Dion....It is a different time I guess, but the comment about forgeting where we came from is offensive. Friend, I only wish that you and everyone else knew where we came from. If you did, things would probably be a lot different today... All of this is neither here nor there. Tyler, I loved the HUG and supported it. I enjoyed playing there, and depite you lack of professionalism, I really enjoyed working with you...I wish you all the luck with things in the future, but dont get your heart broken again if you choose to put yourself back in that possition...

"I tried to book too big of shows for too small of a town"
If you don't like the scene, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT... or grow up and be the mature person you play yourself out to be.

Noah I understood your thread perfectly, I know that all the bad feed back is personal and low blows, In fact the only place i ever hear bad things about bands is on this board, like I posted before someone said I should go die and I was fat because I stated my opinion. And it was about trying to pick up the pieces of the scene and tryin to get it back up, I cant say I know where you guys come from because everything preatty much was handed to us kids. Randy and everyone tries to do something nice for the young kids in bands, and kids in general. This scene has potential but...I dunno, I just wish we had shows again..i used to go to 1213 just to go..i didnt care if i liked the bands or not it was just fun to see a live band and hang out with friends...i think thats what it was all about. At least to me anyway.

perhaps our scene seems unappreciated due to the fact that the people who realize how wicked cool it is just to have a scene don't bother wasting energy on an internet forum. im gettin the feeling this board does more harm than it should.

I think this hit the nail on the head. The only reason the 'scene' seems so crappy is because most of us on this board are pretty crappy people. I lumped myself in there too. We act as if we're the say all and end all of music around here. The fact is a LOCAL band called Fabrik have enjoyed plenty of success without the support of ANYONE in the 'Anniston scene'. They've barely even played around here...why? Because they're smart. They have a song on K98, have been on small TV shows, played countless shows and sold hundreds of records. And guess what...they're from OXFORD. Yep, I'd say that pretty much proves that the views expressed on this board are pointless.

That was in no way mean spirited. It was honest. It only comes from talking with Joe King weeks after the show and him telling me what his friends thought of what happened. It wasnt a personal attack. Sorry if you couldnt see it that way.

What makes you saying that any different from anyone saying anything about anyone in a band? I've read over what's been said, and everything anyone has said about the black ink guys is "honest", so what's the difference?
